But this never bodes well for a hungry belly. I have been known to find rather novel ways to fill my tummy and soothe my soul when the fridge has been empty late at night. Mango pickle, for instance. Wonderful with bread, rice and papad. Not so good with cereal, sadly.
Or packet noodles. Bland at first sight, they are incredibly flexible with any leftover vegetables and a dash or two of Chinese sauce.
When the fridge is empty, it’s the kitchen cupboards that come to the rescue. There you can store a variety of treasures that can help you rustle up a quick and easy last minute meal.
