I love strawberries. That heart-shaped siren red and vibrant green fruit is just so tough to resist!

And I can't get enough of them. Maybe it is because they were an expensive indulgence when I was growing up -- they were always blended into milkshakes so everyone got a share. We never got to savour them, one by one!

A few years ago, I spent the most idyllic strawberry season of my life in North India. We were living in Chandigarh and often drove up home to Dehra Dun through roads flanked by strawberry farms.

Strawberries had not gained the popularity they now have in the area, yet. And one could easily buy a kilogramme or more at a mere Rs 15.

I bought kilos and kilos worth and tried them in every way possible. That's the coolest thing about strawberries -- they are so versatile, they pair well with a number of things.
