For the egg-decorating party lay blown eggs out, either plain or dyed by the dozen with intense dyes (made from 1 teaspoon food coloring, 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar and 1 cup boiling water).
Add bowls of stickers, glitter, ribbons, beads and feathers, and non-toxic craft glue. You will cherish these creations for years, so save a couple of egg cartons to protect them.

My 12 year old niece loves doing what we call Surprise Eggs.
Here's how to make it. Start with one blown egg, brushed with a thin coat of glue. Sprinkle clear, silver, gold or colored glitter and allow the egg to dry.
Have squares of 2-inch-by-2-inch paper ready, to write small notes on. The kids can write little poems, promises to do chores or simple little drawings - whatever they fancy.
Then roll the chits up tightly and slip into egg through enlarged hole at the bottom.
You can seal the eggs then with a sparkly sequin or sticker.
Mom / Dad or the recipients cracks the egg open to discover the message.
And if they can't bear to crack it, here's another idea.
Just insert the message so that an end of the chit sticks out.
