And when your child falls sick, this problem only gets worse. Add to this the reluctance shown by all sick children to even open their mouths.
Apart from that, the myths and misconceptions about what to feed a child and what to avoid in time of illness makes your job all the more difficult.
Kids Don't Eat
When a child falls sick, whether it is fever, vomiting and loose motion, or any other illness, one of the first things she loses is appetite.
Many a times, you may be more distressed that your child is not eating or drinking, rather than about the illness itself. Don't panic when your child does not eat during an illness.
Remember, it is a rare child who continues to feed in the same fashion, in wellness and sickness. Hence, when your child falls sick, be prepared for a massive reduction in her appetite.
Preferences in Illness
When your child falls sick, she will tend to fall back on one or two basic foods. In most cases, this is either the breast milk, or bottled formula milk.

Most mothers tell me, "Ever since my child has developed fever, she prefers to only nurse at the breast, or drink bottled milk. She used to eat almost all the foods before she fell sick, but now consumes only water and milk. I'm scared that she will get weak".
What you need to understand is how the child's body works in an illness. Trying to force your child to eat when sick will only make her vomit or get more irritable.
Let us take a look at feeding the child in the three most common illnesses, namely fever, stomach infections (loose motion and vomiting), and respiratory infections (coughs, colds, fever).
