How do I also care of my long hair? In addition to that, I want to improve the condition of my hair and make them longer and manageable. What should I do?
If you have been wondering about summer hair care, then all your answers are here!
Short hair may be ideal for our hot humid climate and suggests a young lively look. However, most Indian women prefer the traditional long hair.
But when you venture out to work, taking care of your hair becomes much more difficult.
Here are some specific problems associated with long hair.
Split Ends
Travelling to work by train or car with the wind rushing through your hair might leave you with split ends. It could also cause tangled, matted and dry hair.
Cover your hair with a scarf while travelling.
Split ends are also often caused by mineral deficiency. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins.
Dry Hair
The sun cannot really burn your hair but sun exposure will damage your hair's natural protective film. According to a recent study, after just three days of sun exposure, the scale-like cells that cover the hair shaft begin to pull off. This makes your hair, dry, dull, fragile and brittle.
Fragile Hair
Hair that has been dyed or highlighted (stripped of its natural colour) is especially prone to UV damage.
The sun will make the cuticles of colour-treated hair even rougher, which makes the hair more fragile and dried out.
Discoloured Hair
You may want to cool off with a swim but remember; both chlorine and salt water dry and discolour the hair.
Chemicals in pool water bind to the hair and give it a greyish or greenish colouration. Mineral deposits in salt water, in combination with sunlight, severely dehydrate the hair and turn it brittle.
Wash your hair with a daily scalp cleanser immediately after exiting the pool.
Loose Anagen Syndrome
Another factor related to diet, is Loose Anagen Syndrome. This is seen as hair falling with a white tip.
The presence of the root or a white bulb indicates that while your hair growth cycle is normal, your hair root is not strong enough to sustain the pressure of a fully-grown hair. The longer your hair, the worse.
To solve this problem, you need to change your diet. Contact your Trichologist for a specific diet plan for you.
