The way I see it, women like to believe that men think with what is between their legs. Men believe that women think with their heart and not their head. For members of the fairer sex, that four-letter word - love - is what matters.
Musician John Lennon is quoted as saying: Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. When it comes to women, there are no plans, it is all about love! One thing I simply cannot relate to is 'love at first sight'.
Me thinks at first sight, love is the last thing on your mind. Don't we all know that it takes more than a 'first look' for any kind of relationship to develop? But when it comes to sex, all it takes is a willing partner!
And here is where the misunderstanding arises because men and women just don't think alike. I (and I am sure most men too) cannot understand what is it with women and love. Why does it all end and begin with love? Yes, sex too.
Case in point: Fanaa. Kajol's character loves Aamir's and she wants to give him her everything. Read virginity. How regressive is that?
Why do women equate love with sex? Why equate love with anything for that matter? What riles me the most is the kind of warped logic that some women have.
Pre-marital sex is a classic example. Sample these gems. 'I am waiting for the man of my dreams'. Who? John Abraham or Brad Pitt? 'I will give myself to the man I marry'.
What if the man is some dork your parents choose? 'Sex before marriage is a sin'. Hello? Sex and sin? Give me sex and the city any day!
And then the classic arguments: 'Oh, but that is all you men think of!', 'When you go up to a girl you want to take her to bed'. Yes, it could be true for some men but it is not true for all. Many of my friends and even acquaintances hate being stereotyped like this.
When I ask a girl out for a coffee or a movie, that is all there is to it. Why read between the lines?" asks a friend. What bothers most men is that a woman declares her 'love' (so-called) too early in the relationship.
All this achieves is scaring the man away! And while men don't confuse 'sex' and 'love', women do. For women, while love and intimacy come with sex, for men sex is a part of love and intimacy.
Think about it.
