Since time immemorial, man-woman relationships have been judged and condemned on the altar of sex and food.

Contrary to popular perception (and a woman’s one at that), there is more to men than just that.

Yes, SEX is important and FOOD is always appreciated (as far as I am concerned my colleagues will agree to the latter) but there is more to us. So, what is it that men really want?    

All Appreciation

 We are tired of hearing you women go on and on about how you sacrificed everything for home and hearth. Big deal! We did not force you now, did we?

I cannot understand why women take a trip on what they have done – left home, brought up kids, gave up career, faced hardships. And what do you think we did? We married you! I am all for being a househusband. Any takers?

Space to Be

Yes, you are very much a part of our life and all that jazz. We don’t say it as much but it is the truth. All said and done, a man needs his space. To read the paper while taking a crap.

A Saturday night with the guys at the bar. Weekend trips to Lonavala, Khandala or any such hill station.  So let us be.

Do we complain of your parlour sessions with girlfriends, shopping sprees (on the add-on credit card we give you) or that new kitchen gadget you are definitely NOT going to use?

Sure Surprise

Correct me if I am wrong here but when was the last time you women out there surprised your men? Let me guess, never. And I don’t mean on his last birthday or your anniversary.

Bought him a shirt or wine (works for me) that he likes? How about inviting his close friends over for some beer and pizza? Or picking up the new album of his favourite rock band?

Believe me, it matters. A peck on the cheek or ruffling his hair as you pass by will do too.

Right to Respect

This might seem like an ego trip, about men being men and all that, but it is a fact. We men need respect. We don’t ask for it, we demand it.

And we love women who give us respect without being told. There are some things, which cannot be explained and this is one of them. A man needs to be assured (by his woman) that he is the man of the house.
