Dr. Rishma Dhillon Pai is a consultant gynaecologist at Mumbai's Jaslok and Lilavati hospitals. After her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she trained in minimal access surgery (endoscopy) at Antwerp, Belgium. She also underwent advanced infertility training for in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and ICSI in Belgium.
Recently, Dr. Rishma underwent training in egg and embryo freezing at the world's biggest IVF centre in Japan. Her special interests are infertility, minimal access surgery (keyhole or endoscopic surgery), menopause and adolescent problems.
Among the first doctors to start the procedure of uterine balloon ablation therapy for heavy bleeding in India, Dr. Rishma has the distinction of having delivered a 60 year old woman, one of the oldest patients in India.
Currently the chairperson for the food, drugs and medico-surgical equipment committee of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society of India (FOGSI), Dr. Rishma is also an active member of the managing committee of the Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society.
Dr. Rishma is the director of the 'Everywoman Cliniqs' at Bandra and Kemps Corner and is also the director of the Pearl Centre Hospital at Dadar, which is one of the first and largest abortion and family planning centres in Mumbai.
A frequent lecturer at national and international conferences, Dr. Rishma has contributed articles to many books and is also involved in training postgraduate students.
She has special interest in education and counselling of adolescent girls and has conducted sex education discussions in many schools across Mumbai.
