Broader the Better
Want the cowgirl look? Get a broad belt - not only does it look cool but also makes you appear thinner.
Make sure you get them in different shades of brown. Those with heavy metal buckles are perfect for the cowgirl look.
Wear them with hip-hugging, low waist pants and a cotton corset or vest.
Buckle Up
Heavy metal buckles are just for boys. Says who? Even if you are wearing a simple belt, a cool buckle is enough to make you tuck your shirt in.
Sleek Is the Way
A thin belt - in black or brown - goes great with trousers of all colours. For your after hours parties, go for one in blood red!
Bright and Beautiful
When it comes to belts, all things bright and beautiful are best. Funky shades such as fuchsia pink and bright green are in. Make sure you team them with dark shades of clothing.
All that Glitter
If you're in love with studs (of the arm candy kind) as much as Paris Hilton, you must have a studded belt. Get one with studs all over it or just a studded buckle. And if shiny belts and studs are too much for you to handle, glitter belts are the next best thing.
Go Ethnic
Ethnic belts go well with most outfits be it skirts or dresses. Pick up a shiny metal waist chain that compliments your midriff. Or go for cloth belts that look extremely well on kurtas. If they are embroidered, even better! Besides normal sequined ones, look out for belts with coin work.
If you have been to Goa, you couldn't have missed seeing the designer belts. Be adventurous and pick them up from the local flea markets. Don't forget to bargain and get more than just one. Pick pretty shell belts or Rajasthani mirror work ones.
Clean Up Your Act
If you want to wear belts that are sporty, look cool and are washable, go for belts in canvas. Nike has a great collection of canvas belts in different colours. Pick one in a single colour or one with a combination of colours.
Chic Replacement
If you want to do something different, replace your belt with a thin scarf. Choose a floral print one for this purpose. Use your grandma's old scarf that has been lying in her cupboard!
