But you may not be using this jewellery because it's probably not in fashion anymore or you just don't like the way it looks.
But all jewellery, whether old and new can be worn so as to look new with just a few tweaks…

Using It with a Twist
- You loved those beautiful rose studs but now you cannot wear them because you lost one from the pair. So now it's just lying there in the cupboard. But, you can take them out and ask your jeweller to take off the stick from the back and make a pendent of it.
- You can also take that lone earring, make a band and wear it as a ring.
- If your earring is a plain diamond stud, or a plain gold ring, your son may like to wear it if he gets his ears pierced. So, preserving them for a few years will be a great idea.
- You can make your boring, stud earring look expensive and new by adding a lovely big drop below them. Also you can take medium sized earrings and add a hook taar and make it a pretty hanging earring. Or add a big round pearl below your square earrings to make them look sophisticated and chic.

- You have those old payals (anklets) that you got when you were a baby. If you don't use them, you can add links to the back and use them as a bracelet for either you or your daughter.

- Do have a lot of old tiny pendants that were gifted to you and your kids by family? You may like to keep them for sentimental value, so why don't you take all those sentiments and string them together? Just ask your jeweller to attach all these pendants to a bracelet.
- If you have a soft flexible bracelet (sports bracelet), and don't wear it, you can make it into a necklace. Just add a chain on both the sides and it can be worn on your neck as a pati necklace.
- If you have old big rings, which were passed on from generation to generation, or ones that you liked when you were younger but not now, you can reuse these too. Just take off the band and make a pendent.
What To Do With…
Gold
Don't leave your gold pendants just lying in your bank locker. You can gift them to friends and family during important occasions like 50th anniversaries, or birth of a newborn baby.
You have a close family member's wedding coming up and you are making new jewellery for it. Being wedding season, the gold rates are high and so you will be spending a lot of money for your new necklace.
If you have a lot of gold in the form of five gram pendants, broken chains, or old nick knacks that you no longer use, you can ask your jeweller to melt this gold and use it for your necklace.
Now many jewellers may not want to do this because it would mean someone your jewellery, which means added responsibility. Also each item may have a different purity rate, so keeping track of all this and then converting all the gold to 18 carats will be difficult for your jeweller.
However, you can sell of this gold in the market and the money to pay your jeweller for the necklace. If you sell it when the gold rates are good, you will make an excellent amount on it.

Silver
Silver bowls and glasses can also be gifted to people on occasions. But before you gift-wrap them, you need to make sure the people to who gifted it to you haven't engraved their names on it. If the silver is oxidized, you should polish it before gifting it.
Silver jewellery can also be sold or melted and remade.
Remember
When you sell silver and gold in the market, you will get a profit that is 10% less than the market rate of the gold at that purity. This is because the jewellers also want to make a profit.
