"It's potentially flawless," claimed Lisa Hubbard, Chairman of International Jewellery Division at Sotheby's North and South America Division, when she showed us this piece. The reason: the original working diagrams stating that the stone may be potentially flawless will accompany the piece.
The main diamond is an emerald-cut diamond weighing about 24.42 carats and is surrounded by tapering baguette diamonds. This completely colourless stud of a diamond falls in the type 11 category. Type 11a stones are mostly chemically pure and are often colourless, whereas the type 11b stones are blue in colour. The type 11a diamonds originated in the Golconda region in India, and some great diamonds like the Kohinoor, the Regent and the Great Mogul are all classified as type 11a.
