These are the days of red walls with mango curtains and a brushed copper couch. Funky bold is in; safe and sober is out!
While funky and ethnic styles both lend themselves well to rich use of the colour palette, choosing colours harmonious to the purpose of the room creates a balanced environment.
Here's how.
When you think about your bedroom, what words come to mind? Sleep, rest, peace, tranquility, love, or some other words of your own...
Green is the colour for sleep and rest.
White is the colour for peace.
Pink is the colour for love and
Blue is the colour of calm and tranquility.
So using 2-3 colours from this scheme according to your taste and preferences will help you create your perfect bedroom.
How might you put this together?
Combine a green bed spread/cover with white linen curtains, a dark wooden chest with a white marble bowl with pink floating candles in it. Add a white limestone sculpture to the wall and a green lamp and shade to the room to complete the look.
For the living room, the choices are more diverse depending on the family's habits and interests.
A family that entertains frequently should consider use of some turquoise and/ or yellow colour in their living room. It allows people to communicate easily and build friendships and spread laughter.
Blue is also a nice colour for a busy family that unwinds in the living room for the evening. A painting of the big blue ocean hanging facing the couch could be one way to do this.
For other rooms, here are some suggestions.
Bathroom
- If you normally have a very hurried shower, green and blue themes in your bathroom could help you slow down and enjoy a more relaxed bath.
- If you take forever in the bathroom, use red and yellow themes in your bathroom to speed things up a bit. Colours in the bathroom can come from tile patterns, towels, soaps, shower curtains and more.
Children's Study Room
- Yellows and oranges help children focus while keeping mind and body active.
Kitchen
- Greens and browns help keep the food's connection to the earth and nature.
Does the home sound like it could be the model house in an Asian paints ad or in the Royale wall ad? Perfect! Oh Rang Barse…!
