Here are a couple of keepsakes to look out for the next time you are holidaying across the world.
All Dolled Up

You probably remember the beautiful Japanese women dressed in the traditional kimono from the movie 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. No, don't bring home a geisha girl. But you could get ningyo, which is a traditional Japanese doll. It will look charming on a dull wooden dresser.
If a ningyo doesn't appeal to you, then try the delightful Russian nesting dolls. These painted wooden dolls open up in two halves and can be fitted one into the other. They would look lovely in the showcase or on a shelf in your living room.
Closer home, Rajasthani string puppet dolls make great wall hangings. All you music lovers can get yourself an Indian dancing doll. Kathakali or Kutchipudi dancing dolls or even tribal dolls from the northeast in their vibrantly coloured attire will give your home that ethnic touch.
Plated Memories

Circular plates in ceramic or metal make attractive showpieces. Simply set them into bracket stands or holders and place them on your study desk or in a niche.
A trip to Israel is not complete without you getting The Last Supper plate. You could try one in metal or wood. Even ceramic plates with impressions of Queen Victoria or an English countryside are perfect souvenirs.
You could even capture your vacation with a simple family photo plate for your bedroom.
