Putting up an aquarium is one of the best ideas to give your home an interesting look. An attractive aquarium can be designed to suit your budget, which may be in the range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000.
You must first start with connecting the pump, other filters, aerators, heaters, etc. Allow this equipment to operate for several days to equilibrate water chemistry and temperature. Check and adjust pH to proper level. Check water temperature at different times of the day and make necessary adjustments to the heater setting.
Introduce the fish to the aquarium. Build the population gradually and monitor water conditions closely as you gradually settle into a regular schedule for monitoring and maintenance. Accessories can be chosen according to your budget. You can have artificial or a real water plant. Different types of shells and stones can be used to decorate the aquarium.
Talking about fishes, the price ranges from Rs 20 to Rs 150, whereas the filter system is priced between Rs 65 and Rs 350. Water heater comes in the range of Rs 45 to Rs 300. Just take care of a few things and see how an aquarium transforms the look of your house.
Do not keep different variety of fish together in the same pond. Make sure that you keep your aquarium away from direct sunlight, air conditioners and radiators. You have to take special care of their food. You must feed them only when they finish the previous food given to them. Next important thing is temperature. Water should be kept at 75 degree fahrenheit for tropical fish and 65 degree fahrenheit for gold fish.
Lamp lights resembling natural light should be preferred over CFL lamps. Maintaining regular schedule of water changes is advisable. Do a partial water change (roughly one-third of the total volume) every two weeks. While gravel cleaning, you should also remove one-third to one-half of the total volume. Prevent aggressive varieties of fish, slow-water fish (such as angelfish), and fancy fish (like goldfish and guppies). Consult your fish store owner regarding compatible community varieties.
Keep a few scavengers in the tank such as snails, crabs, algae eaters, and catfish. They will make your tank virtually self-cleaning. And remember; vary the shapes and colors to keep fish watching interesting. Feed standard fish food according to package directions. Remove dying or dead plants and fish promptly.
