A classic design, which is really famous is the Bangadi Mor (peacock in the bangle). Mainly Bangalorian silk and gatta silk is used in these sarees.
Their price range starts at Rs.5000 and increases, depending upon the amount of gold and silver work.
These are available mainly in Maharashtra, but the ideal place to pick them up would be Yeola , a small town near Nashik, where you can get them for 20% less.
Another famous place to pick up these sarees is Paithan, a small town near Aurangabad.

The South Indian Kanjeevaram

| BORDER |
Untouched by the modern trends and patterns, the Kanjeevaram silk and zari sari still holds on to the 150-year-old legacy of weavers. These sarees are bordered with gold and zari work.
Kanjee silk is one of the thickest mulbery silks available, and therefore is expensive. Some of the most popular patterns woven out are parrots and peacocks.
A Kanjeevaram classic that comprises pure gold and silver, woven into real kanjee silk will cost you anything between Rs.6000 - Rs.2,00,000, depending on the amount of gold and silver work on the saree.
In case you want to go in for a cheaper range, opt for Chinese and Korean silks that are machine woven. However, these sarees don't contain real gold and silver and the zari tends to turn black.
The best place to find these sarees is Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. You are likely to get the authentic classic sarees at 10% cheaper. The designer Kanjeevaram is available at more or less the same rates.
