EMPIRE, the couture style of the 1920s, is back in style.
This time, not just in the clothes, but at international auctions as well.
An exquisite 200 years old regency collection of clothes is now on auction at Bonhams, the auctioneers and valuers of art from London.
The waistcoats, gowns and bonnets of the 1820s will be auctioned on May 7, 2008 at Knowle.
So, if you have a buck to spare, you can bid for these collector's items.

Interesting how gentlemen dressed 200 years back.
Take a look at this exquisitely embroidered court costume from the late 18th century.
It consists of a cream silk waistcoat embroidered in colourful silks and a navy jacket with decorative metal buttons.
Notice the ethnic Indian influence in the floral patterns. Incidentally, it was in 1820s that the British stranglehold on colonial India consolidated.
This ensemble will be on display at Bonhams in London, till first week of May.
