The talented Lalitha Lajmi, who we saw play a cameo role in Taare Zameen Par says, has done a lot of black and white work in the past. But those were etchings. Later she did plenty of work in water colours.

"This was a challenge for me because I had to concentrate on the form rather than the colour. But I do feel that in black and white one can see a true reflection of the artist's thoughts," Lalitha explains.

Drawing has always been an essential part of Lalitha Lajmi's creative process.  She describes her drawings as a series of perceptions, scenes, delusions, and diagrams that are a free association of ideas and themes informing her work. 

As a medium, drawing provides Lalitha with a natural way of working out ideas and allows for an immediate and personal relationship to the subject.
