Classic Setting
Do up the entire bedroom in combinations like subtle gold and rich cream or bronze and ivory. You could add a bit of colour with deep red hues, dark purple, navy or turquoise too.
Try a plaster of Paris moulding in gold along the border of the ceiling. You could also cover the ceiling with silk fabric draped to create the appearance of a tent.

The Victorian decor style is all about formal balance. So make sure there is symmetry. For instance, if you have a side table on one side of the bed, place one on the other side too to create that balance.
Soft woollen carpeting in off-white, ivory or even beige would complete the decor perfectly. But avoid carpeting if you live in the coastal areas, as the moisture tends to damage the flooring. Italian marble or wooden flooring embedded with precious stones is another great alternative.
Royal Chamber
A luxurious four-poster bed is an absolute must for this bedroom style. Have it made from Burma teak for that true feeling of royalty. Make sure the bed is about 2.5 to 3 ft. off the ground. You could hang up silk or organza drapes around the bed or even drape the fabric to form an elegant canopy.
Clad your bed with satin quilted bedcovers so you could just sink in and fall asleep. Don't forget the pillows with lace trimmed covers and gold embroidery for that added comfort and style.

The footboard was a very 'in' thing during the Victorian period so include both a footboard as well as a headboard in exquisitely carved wood.
Try similar carved wooden footstools on either side of the bed as they make it easier for you to get off your high bed. Have them upholstered in soft velvet or suede fabric for that soothing feeling every time you place your feet on them.
You could include low wooden bench in front of the bed and drape a rich flowing fabric over it. Place an artefact like a brass urn or a porcelain statue of a pretty maiden on it.
Complete this lavish bed area with porcelain or even brass table lamps on each of the side tables.
