Good, complete rest is essential to treat dark circles. Complete rest means disconnecting from all mental thoughts before bedtime. Take a hot shower before bed, lie down and breathe consciously for 7-8 minutes. Gradually drift into a lull without stressful thoughts.
A healthy diet of fruits and vegetables is equally essential in treating dark circles. They are high in vitamins, enhance overall health and cleanse the body systems. A healthy inside equals a healthy outside.
Massage your eyes right
A massage is stimulating, relaxing and improves circulation. Here are a few easy-to-do massages that will rub those circles away.
- Dab eyes gently with cold cotton pads. Repeat several times. Your eyes will feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
- Dab around eyes lightly with fingertips.
- Take finger and press firmly under eye. Then lift finger and press down again. Repeat till the entire under eye area is covered.

- Sit in the lotus position and detach yourself from the surroundings

- Gradually stop the exercise and open eyes
Home remedies to rest those eyes
- Apply a grated raw potato and leave on eyes for 15-20 minutes. Wash off and apply eye-cream or moisturiser
- Peel, chop and blend a cucumber. Refrigerate till chilled. Apply to eyes and lie down for 15-20 minutes.
- Take two swabs of cotton wool and wet with cold rose water. Place on eyes and lie down for 10 minutes. This soothes the eyes and relaxes the area around them.
- Apply a mixture of lemon and tomato juice in equal parts over eyes. Leave for 15 minutes and then wash and moisturise.
- Massage around eyes with almond oil before bedtime.
There are countless quick-fix cosmetic treatments available that promise to eliminate dark circles. However, for a complete cure you have to deal with the problem. Massages for the eyes, meditation, good healthy food and rest are holistic cures that work.
