It can be even worse if you have left your job and taken a break for a year or more. For all those raring to get back work after this period, you might find it a little tougher than you thought.
So, if you are pregnant and planning to quit, you may be wondering if you would be able to find a job easily or if you will have to face a pay hit.
Extending Maternity Leave
Normally you get maternity leave for three months. Most companies give you an extension of three months but with loss of pay. However, there are some companies that may give you an extension of three months and may give you half your pay.
If you need more leave, you may have to go on leave without pay. The leave extension policy differs from company to company and you need to clarify these policies before you go on maternity leave.
Unable to Work Effectively?
You may have lost touch with your work and may be less confident when you resume work. But do not worry as this is just a temporary phase. Sujitha Nair, working in a media house says, "I got back to work after my maternity leave.
For the first two months, I found it difficult to work as the thought of my baby kept running in my head. So the concentration was there but it was not 100 percent." When you are unable to concentrate, try calling your place to check on your baby.
However, while some cannot concentrate on work, there are some who simply cannot work because they have lost touch.
