Are you afraid that you might be overreacting about wanting more?Have you tried any other means to solve this situation?
Double Trouble
Face it… if your boss is a pain, then there is little you can do to change that. However, when the boss is the reason for office matters going out of hand is a time when you need to sit up and think.
Abhilash Scariya, who works as a technical writer in Bangalore believes in this funda.
He reasons, "If my job profile is good, pay is good, recognition is good, I wouldn't quit even if I have a bad boss. But if I have a bad boss, and he is messing up my work, not giving me recognition and genuine chances to getting higher; All those factors cumulatively will make me think that it's time to start looking for another job."
Asha M, who works as a content associate in a Knowledge Management Firm, agrees with Abhilash.
She says, "I agree that it is not possible to be fully satisfied in any job and your boss but if the reasons for dissatisfaction outweigh the ones for satisfaction, then it is better to quit than stew in stress."
Switch Profiles?
Don't you just hate it when your responsibilities and profile is messed with? But could it be a reason to quit?
Adarsh Varghese, who works in Google now, had a problem in his last job, where his boss thought he would be a good business developer. But the problem was that he was working on a pilot project and was quite happy with the way he was working. Obviously, he was not happy with this shift and hence his work suffered too.
He says, "I was not interested, nor was I qualified for the profile, and my boss nevertheless, made me move. I was really angry and quit soon after that."
Can't Take It Anymore
Sometimes you just cannot take it anymore and have to make a decision then and there.
Naushaba Ara, an aspiring Kolkata based Jewellery designer, and faculty at a jewellery design institute, faced the same problem.
She says, "If you are feeling insulted every other day at work, then at some point of time you have to make a decision. I could not take the way I was being treated at my workplace by my boss. So I quit. I know it was useless to talk to her."
Boredom Fever
Sometimes nothing can stop you from leaving a job after a certain point of time. Kolkata based Vijay Leon agrees…
Vijay worked in the banking sector for a while until he apparently "got bored."
He says, "My boss was like any other boss, sometimes he was okay, and sometimes I wanted to kill him. But that was not my problem. There is a time when you have learnt everything about it and it becomes saturated."
He feels that at this point, you become bored because now the job has become monotonous.
Vijay left his job and is now studying for an MBA.
