Effect on Baby
Remember, the lungs of your baby start functioning after 34 weeks of pregnancy. If the baby is delivered prematurely before you complete 34 weeks of your pregnancy, she will have breathing complications because the lungs are not fully developed.
However, if your doctor is aware that you are going into preterm labour pain and if you have completed around 28 weeks of pregnancy, she may give you injections to hasten your baby's lung development.

Future Pregnancies
You may be wondering if you will have complications in your next pregnancy. Do not worry. The chance of you having a preterm labour in your next pregnancy depends on the cause of preterm labour pain in your earlier pregnancy.
If it was a multiple pregnancy, you need not worry. However, if it is a vaginal infection, you need to keep a check and inform your doctor.

Eat Well
Before You Think of a Baby If you are diabetic, be very strict about your diet. Follow a sugar-free diet to keep your blood sugar in control. If you are on insulin, get your blood sugar level checked at least three times a day.
If you have high blood pressure, please control it before planning for a pregnancy.
Remember, any preterm pain or pressure on your pelvic area is not a good sign. So make sure you inform your doctor at the earliest so to avoid any extra complications.
