Exercising during pregnancy is a must since it helps you keep in shape, keep your weight under the required limit, and keeps your muscles supple, making the process of childbirth smoother.
"Exercise also helps you regain your muscle tone faster post delivery," says Dr. Reshma Dhillon Pai, Gynaecologist and Obstetrician.
Make sure you exercise moderately and under supervision. Do not embark on a rigorous routine anytime during the pregnancy.
If your pregnancy progresses smoothly, you can exercise until the day of your delivery.
As far as possible, do a combination of breathing and physical exercises. Yoga is also beneficial. However do not attempt any postures without proper knowledge or supervision.
In fact it is okay to continue working out throughout your pregnancy. However, do not take undue stress or lift weights. That needs to be strictly avoided, especially if you are not too accustomed to strenuous physical activity.
- Timely Intervention
"If there is lesser intervention by your gynaecologist, that is, she gives you a free rein in your day-to-day routine, it means that your pregnancy is progressing smoothly and will definitely result in vaginal delivery," says Childbirth Instructor, Sonali Shivlani.
Greater the intervention by your specialist, the more reason to believe that complications may arise.
Eventually, remember to go through your pregnancy in a relaxed frame of mind. This includes proper diet and exercise and positive thoughts.
