You may be thinking that since you have gotten through one pregnancy, the second one will be a breeze.
Well, not exactly!
While you plan for your second pregnancy, here are some of the things you need to know…
What You Should Understand
Remember, after your first delivery, you will become fertile in as early as six weeks, even though you are not getting your periods. So, your chances of getting pregnant are highest during this time if you don't use contraception.

Dr. Ranjana Dhanu, Gynaecologist, Lilavati Hospital, says, "Your second pregnancy should be planned. If it is an unplanned pregnancy, chances are, you may treat your child as an unwanted child."
In fact, according to Dr. Dhanu, most abortion cases happen due to these unplanned second pregnancy cases.
Apart from that, if you have an unplanned pregnancy, you might also suffer from the depression of having the child or not. If you get pregnant just after you deliver your first child, this depression will be coupled with postpartum depression, and hence, may cause multiple complications for you and your unborn child.

How to Know When?
Dr. Dhanu says you should keep have a three-fold analysis ready before you plan for your second child.
- You should be physically ready to bear your second child. Remember, a pregnancy is not an easy nine months, and you must be mentally, physically, and emotionally ready for your baby.
- There should be an ideal time difference between your first and second child. According to Dr. Dhanu, the ideal spacing between your kids should be not less than a year and a half to two years.
- Finance is one of the most important things you need to keep in mind before you have your second child. You already have one child, are you ready to raise another child? Think about that before you make your decision.
