Mumbai: Geisha Design have been known for their mystical designs with rich fabrics and romantic themes. This season, the studio is all set to present their WLIFW collection totally gift-wrapped, quite literally!
Paras and Shalini, the designers behind Geisha, are kicked about their unusual theme. "Our inspiration was the holiday season - the whole excitement surrounding wrapping and opening gifts. Gift wrappings are colourful and they make the gifts inside all the more worth having," says Paras.

So do we look for extravagant colours and striking accessories? "The colour pallete includes varied colours, but I must say it is not as bright and bling as the actual gift wraps. Of course, you will feel all festive with the cuts and fabric. We have also used a bit of gold," says Shalini, "The feel of gift wrapping will come with use of bows, foldings and other embellishments."
Shalini says the combinations of rich tones like wine, deep blue, red and purple with black and gold will be seen throughout the collection.
The designer duo have used a mixture of fabrics this time, silk being priority. "We have tried to include a variety - from modern fabrics like jersey silk and satin silk to the traditional fine silk, we have gone all out with silks," Shalini adds.
Even though the fabrics and colours give us a very royal image of the collection, Shalini insists that the silhouettes are metropolitan and perfectly suitable for a city girl.
No offence, Paras and Shalini, we are waiting to tear apart the gift wrap on your collection.
