Pelvic Inflammatory disease first starts by affecting the low genital area which includes the vagina and the cervix. When you ignore this preliminary stage, it slowly starts spreading to the upper area and affects your uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes. It inflames the fallopian tubes, your uterus and ovaries leading to infertility.
Once the disease spreads to your upper area, then you will be unable to conceive as it damages your ovaries and your fallopian tubes completely and affects the inner lining of your uterus.
In such a scenario, you can conceive only by Intro vitro Fertilisation (IVF) or test tube way.
So, if you wish to avoid pelvic inflammatory disease then it is better that you stick to single partner, avoid casual sex and use a condom while having intercourse. If you are allergic to a condom or your partner is uncomfortable using a condom then you can probably opt for a female condom.
