If the level of Oestrogen in the body go down, the level of other hormone Progesterone goes up. When this happens during puberty, this may cause irregular menstrual cycles.
When the oestrogen levels in your body increase, the progesterone levels drop.
Higher level of testosterone in a female body can lead to excess body hair, lowering of voice and irregular periods. When your body produces high levels of male hormone testosterone, your pituitary gland may start releasing more of luteinizing hormone and this may lead to the formation of cysts in your ovaries.
Cysts in your ovaries may lead to anovulation (irregular menstrual cycles) or can make your periods very heavy or scanty.
