8. Sore Throat
This is common and can be experienced for a few days especially post laparoscopy due to the irritation caused by the tube placed in your throat during anaesthesia. It will get cured in a few days time and can be eased with lozenges.
9. Passing Urine and Bowel Movements
During the surgery, a tube is inserted into the urinary tract. Usually, if there is nothing complicated, the surgery won't affect the passing of urine.
However, if you happen to feel any discomfort or pain, including any discolouration in your urine or passing of blood, consult your doctor immediately.
When it comes to bowel movements, it may take at least three days before it becomes normal. This is because you will be on a diet of juices and light solid food.
10. Mood Swings
A minor surgery will have no effect whatsoever on your mental upkeep and you will be up and about within a week. However, a major surgery can cause hormonal changes that can make you feel weepy, depressed or subject you to abrupt mood swings.
This again will last only for few days and usually by a week or two. However if you had an hysterectomy, chances of reaching menopause early increases drastically and the accompanying mood swings may take more time to control. In this case, you may have to undergo Hormone Replacement Therapy.
