"Most certainly. Some factors like pregnancy, menstruation, diet all can change the appearance and consistency of your discharge," informs Dr. Reshma Rafi, Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon, Saifee hospital, Mumbai.

Some other factors include:
- Stress
- Sexual excitement
- Ovulation
- Medication
All these factors have considerable affect on the vaginal discharge you experience.
This is so because changes in your body hormonally affect the PH balance in your vagina (that is the acidic content in the vagina) which in turn increases or decreases the frequency, amount and the colour of the discharge.

Inform the Doctor
You should see your doctor immediately if you have an abnormal vaginal discharge and it is accompanied with:
- A feverish feeling
- Severe abdominal pain
- Severe itchiness in the vaginal area
- Soreness, redness or pain in the vagina
- Yellow, green, or greyish discharge
- Sores, blisters or boils in the vaginal area
- Severe pain during and after sex.
Visit your gynaecologist if these symptoms don't stop within a day.
