ROHAN is seven years old. Obviously, his mother is worried.
She initially took him to her family doctor and then to a couple of paediatricians.
The medicines suggested by them did give him temporary relief, but within a few days of the course getting over, Rohan was back where he started.
Occasionally, during such episodes, he would also develop fever and wheezing, requiring antibiotics or inhalation therapy.
He had already undergone many blood tests and x-rays, but they were all essentially normal.
Later, Rohan's mother tried alternative medicine like Homeopathy and Ayurveda, but the results were not encouraging.
She even put him in a yoga class for children and enrolled him in swimming classes, but Rohan continued to suffer.
At her wits end, Rohan's mother wanted explanations and reassurance that nothing was seriously wrong with her son.
The Problem
Colds and coughs are usually the result of two main factors -
1. Infections
2. Allergies.
Infections too can have two main causes -
1. Viral
2. Bacterial
