Abdominal Cramps
Abdominal cramps happen due to the increased levels of the hormone progesterone, resulting in constipation and gas and consequently, cramps.
You can reduce abdominal cramps:
- By having homemade remedies for gas and constipation such as putting a little bit of ajwain (carom) in a cup of warm water and drinking it.
- By doing some anti-natal exercises under the guidance of a physiotherapist.
However it is best to seek the guidance of a doctor.

Make sure you completely avoid:
- Putting an electric heating pad on your abdomen.
- Taking any kind of medicine without the advice of your doctor.
Also remember:
Sleeping in a particular position is not going to ease the pain in any way.
Risky Matters
Never take abdominal cramps lightly. They may be a sign of uterine contractions which is a sign of preterm labour. This normally happens during the second and third trimester.
