Sapna Mahendran who was just 7th months pregnant, was in office when she suddenly felt sharp shooting pain in her lower back. This was followed by a feeling to urinate frequently. "I don't know if my water broke or was it urine, but I just had to frequent the loo every 30 minutes to relieve myself," remembers Sapna.
Few hours later she felt a sudden pressure in her pelvic area, like the baby was trying to push out. There are certain signs you may experience during the second or third trimester. Some of these signs, like lower back pain and sporadic contractions are normal during pregnancy.
However, if you were to experience any of these constantly with increased severity, chances are you might be delivering preterm.
Here is a list of symptoms that could indicate preterm delivery.
Vaginal Discharge
Increase in vaginal discharge is quite normal during pregnancy. However, it is time to call the doctor if the discharge seems to be heavier than normal, especially if it completely soaks your panties. Also, you may find a change in the type of discharge.
It may either become more watery, or mucus like or it may even be tinged with blood. So, make sure you notice any kind of change and report it to your doctor immediately.
Bleeding
The discharge need not be limited to watery or mucus. If you were to bleed like how you would during your menses, or even spot for that matter, it could be an indication of preterm delivery. In this situation, call your doctor right away.
