If you have a constant urge to visit the loo and have a fever during pregnancy, make sure you consult your gynaecologist at the earliest
Reason
While women are more likely to develop a UTI than men, pregnancy can further aggravate the situation. Here is why.
Says Dr. Ashwini Bhalerao Gandhi, Gynaecologist, Hinduja Hospital, "A common reason for having UTI during pregnancy could be due to the relaxation of the bladder muscles due to the hormone progesterone."
Apart from that, it can also be because of the growth of your uterus. The uterus is placed directly on the bladder .As the uterus grows, its increased weight can affect the bladder.
Dr. P. Changulani, Gynaecologist, Apollo Hospital, Delhi says, "Women tend to drink less liquids during pregnancy because of the feeling of nausea. Not having enough liquids can also lead to this condition."
