However, here are a few things that could increase the possibility of you having fraternal twins.
Why not identical twins?
Fraternal twins come from two different eggs that are fertilized by two different sperms, while identical twins are formed when one fertilized egg splits into two.
"You can't choose to have identical twins because the likelihood of having one fertilized egg split into two is a natural, beautiful freak accident," says Gynaecologist Dr. Kiran Coelho.
It is not determined by hereditary and no diet can increase the possibility of the embryo splitting in two.

History of Twins
"If your maternal family has a history of twins, you have a higher chance of having twins as well," says Infertility Specialist, Dr. Anjali Malpani. Also, it is a myth that the possibility of having twins skips a generation.
For example, if your mother produces more than one egg during a cycle, there is a chance that you would be able to do that as well. So, if two sperms fertilize both the eggs, you will be pregnant with fraternal twins.
However, this doesn't happen with every ovulation cycle, so even if you were a twin, the chances of you having twins, is not guaranteed.

Ovulation Inducing Drugs
Infertility specialist Dr. Nandita Palshetkar says, "When your doctor puts you on ovulation inducing drugs, again there is a higher chance of the ovaries in your body releasing more than one egg. But there is only a 20 to 25% chance of this happening."
