Eye-Make up
Make up artist Cory Walia lets us in on his favourite eye make up -
Eyeliners
- The Cake Eyeliner by Makeup Forever
- The Black Liquid Liner by Christen Dior
- The Engraved, Black liner pencil By M.A.C
Cory's Tip - Metallic colours are really hot these days. Use the ones by Mac and Lakme and go wild with colour .
To Shadow your Eyes
- The M.A.C Eyes shadows are great
- The eyeshades by Make up forever are good but they are available only in the grey market
- VOV - these are available at all stores and quite reasonable too
- Stars - this is an Indian brand but they have beautiful shades.
What Cory looks for:
"Good eye shadows are those whose colour is rich and texture smooth. Some eye shadows look very attractive in their packages but when you use them the powder is dry or falls on the lashes. This shouldn't be happen," says Cory.
On cream based eye shadows?
Cream eye shadows are not too great for Indians as the sweat etc. will get it off, also it collect in the creases of the skin. Using cream eye shadows in cities where the whether is cool is a good idea.
Cream eye shadows give a beautiful finish, so what you can so is top it with powder eye shadow to stabilize the colour.

Kohl Pencils
- The Estee Lauder kohl pencil is Cory's favourite
- The M.A.C engraved kohl pencil is also great
- The Revlon eye pencil is quite nice.
Cory's home made Kohl -
Cory uses home made coal. And this is how you make it… You can make kohl at home by burning a ghee diya with camphor; you then collect the soot in the diya. The soot is then mixed with ghee and applied. In the olden days pearls were also burned to make kohl. Cory mixes black eye shadow powder to his home made khol and then uses it on his clients.
Mascaras
"Mascaras are a very very important part of your make-up," says Cory Walia.
- My favourite the the Estee Lauder - Magnoscopic mascara
- When I'm doing make up for a bride and I don't want her to cry and have black streaks running down for face, I use the water proof mascara by Mavala. It's made a Switzerland but is now officially available in India too.
Cory says:
"Even though all brands have mascaras, I'm very picky with them. That why the above two are the only ones I like to use."
