LONDON - FEBRUARY 07: Did you know, your nose can win you awards? Especially if you are a celeb nose? Apparently, it can! The Perfume Shop, a leading perfume retailer, announced the World's first ever Celebrity Nose of the Year Awards.

And whose nose won by public demand? The popular soap opera star, Cornation Street's Tina O'Brien!

The winner was announced in a lavish event at the Intercontinental Hotel on February 7, 2008 in London, England. This was the first time ever that this kind of award was given to a celeb by public demand.

"What next," you may say! But you probably didn't know that a "nose" really is a perfumer, or one who invents perfumes.

This niche profession involves the delicate balancing of raw materials and ingredients used in a perfume, putting them together to create a unique fragrance.

Yes, this also means that a perfumer has to have a more than just a sensitive nose for the job. In fact, some of the best perfumers in the world can distinguish between almost 3000 different fragrances!

Also, a 'nose' is definitely a perfumer, but the perfumer need not necessarily be a 'nose'. Which just means that you have to be just great at your job as a perfumer to land the job of being a 'nose'.

So, keeping in mind this very important part of your body, (not the mention, face!) The Perfume Shop decided to start this annual event to celebrate the nose!

Eminent celebs were nominated for the first ever The Perfume Shop Celebrity Nose of the Year award. This included Cheryl Cole, Ben Shepherd, Gok Wan and even Apprentice boss Sir Alan Sugar.
