If you are reading this, don't be confused. This piece is not about Toni Braxton or her career accomplishments.
On the contrary, it is about unbreaking your heart or rather getting over a broken relationship.
And unlike what Braxton sang, asking him to '... say you will love me again' is not quite the way to go about it!
Love hurts. And love hurts even more when it fails. But a broken relationship is not the end of the world.
There is, truly, more to life than a single failed relationship. What you need to do is forget the past and move on.
Much as the cliché goes, there really is no point in crying over spilt milk!
So, just how does one get over a broken relationship? For all you know, burning all those love letters is not the answer.
"Involve yourself in things creative and beef up on your extra-curricular activities. Depending on the kind of person you, enroll for a pottery or ceramic class. If you are the active kind, learn the Salsa instead," says film student Subuhi Jiwani.
Subuhi believes that a busy and distracted mind will slowly heal the pain of a broken relationship. Being in a crowd, even it means just doing your own work in a crowded room is a great idea too. According to her, keeping in touch with an ex is not such a bad idea either.
She says, "Intimacy is rare and people are afraid to share it. When you break-up, leave parts behind, not everything. Eventually time and distance will mend a broken heart."
- Distraction is a good thing, keep yourself busy.
- Join a hobby class or learn a new language.
- Surround yourself with family and friends.
- Indulge in a one night stand (definitely recommended)!
