Okay, so Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has been arrested.
Rumours are rife about a bandh on Thursday, February 14, in the city of Mumbai.
It happens to be Valentine's Day. What if a Mumbai bandh were to be declared?
Would you still celebrate Valentine's Day?
IndiWo decided to do some asking, and here's what we found.
Mumbai Matinee
Mubash K, senior manager with a BPO in Mumbai, and Ravi Gaur, a writer have been seeing each other for the last 10 years.
"If tomorrow is a bandh, I would still celebrate it. I wouldn't want to stay at home," says Mubash. She would want to go out for a movie with her loved one.
Ravi has some interesting ideas. "I would take my car and get out of city tonight only to return on Friday," he says. He will carry with him all the mushy paraphernalia -- champagne, home-cooked food and the like.
He recommends places such as Kolad or Kamshet, which are still virgin from tourist encroachment. Ravi also has another suggestion: "A house party for couples. Maybe I would call all the couples I know and throw a Valentine's Day party for them at my place."
Jatin Shah, a businessman, doesn't feel the same way. "There are some forces in the city which are already against the whole idea of the celebrating Valentine's Day. Raj Thackeray's arrest will simply escalate the tension. And celebrating Valentine's Day under such circumstances is risky."
Voices from the West
A state which has seen a lot of unrest in recent times is Gujarat. Meenakshi Ajwani, a technical writer with Windowmaker Software, Baroda, says, "If we had a bandh on Valentine's Day, I would prefer staying home with my husband.
She would bake a heart-shaped strawberry cheesecake for her husband, a chef who owns a bakery. "My husband loves Italian food. I would whip up a special meal replete with pasta and pizza," adds Meenakshi.
"I would call my girlfriend home and spend the day with her," says Prakash Sharma, an IT professional from Pune.
He has his specifics right: "It would include the film, Before Sunset (starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy), a bottle of good champagne, strawberries and cream, in that order," he adds with a wink.
