Don't get me wrong. It's great to have ambition and be able to make your own hours. (Although how many freelance professionals are actually using that perk to their full advantage?) You can even form some solid and enduring friendships with people who you meet online.

But wouldn't it be wonderful to find friends nearby who you can spend holiday seasons, special occasions, and a couple of Saturday nights a month out on the town with?
