I was flabbergasted. Colour TV? Who on earth would want a colour TV? It's not dowry we are talking about!
Later, it dawned on me. Men could gift the least expected/weirdest of things under the guise of being wacky or funny.
We spoke to some women and found out what they didn't want this Valentine:

Revati Sahsrabhojane, student, Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication
This 22-year-old media student from Pune has her expectations set right. She doesn't want:
i. Clothes picked off sales
"Sales are passé. I don't want to be roaming on the streets in what my other half thought was a gorgeous dress only to find half the world wearing the same thing," says Revati. She feels that she can jolly well decide what goes on her back, thank you!

ii. Jam-packed parties
According to Revati, the most romantic thing that can happen in such crowded parties is her boyfriend holding her hand leading her through the crowd just to ensure that she doesn't get lost.
iii. Pets
Cuddling up a cute pooch is fine on Valentine's Day, but she can't bear the thought of looking after another living being, more so an animal.
