Colour Consultant Latika Khosla, a big name in decor industry associated with brands such as Godrej Eon refrigerators, ICI Dulux Colour Futures and Portico New York's Escape to dream, gives you the trends for 2008.
"2008 will see two very distinct decor trends - 'Room without Walls' and 'Urban Monk'," Latika predicts.
Room without Walls is all about bringing nature into your home and giving your home a feeling of space. After all, your home is that place of rest and solace after a busy day at work.
The colour green is both relaxing and refreshing and floral prints bring in that element of nature into the confines of your home. The Room without Walls colour palette has earthy browns too to balance the decor.

So how do you get the look of a 'Room without Walls'?
1. Reduce boundaries with open balconies and verandahs. If possible, break down unnecessary walls. For instance, you could connect both the living and dining room if they have a dividing wall.
2. Go with large windows with clear glass panes and open up your home to your surroundings. Yes, let that natural light in along with the greenery.
3. The colour palette for this look consists of shades of green, pale blues and solid earthy browns, which are all an essential part of nature. So make sure your paint, furnishings and accessories go with the theme.
4. Make use of natural materials wherever possible. Go with stone
flooring, whether in the rough finish of a Jaipuri stone or smooth marble. Use cotton or raw silk furnishings to complement wooden furniture.
5. Floral and leafy prints work well with the theme. So highlight a wall with motifs of flowers and leaves. You could also go with floral printed cushions and drapes too.
