So you are not a gym person or don't even feel like going out for a walk early in the morning? You can turn to yoga instead.
"Asanas are not just physical movements, but are clubbed with breathing. This helps in proper detoxification. The synchronised breathing also helps easy practice of the asana," says Yoga Expert, Sandhya Patki.
Pranayam like Anulom Vilom, abdominal pranayam also is very effective. Meditation also helps a lot and consistent practice of yoga is extremely helpful. The slow movements of yoga help in building muscles and toning the body. Just make sure you practice these asanas on an empty stomach.

Does Walking, Jogging Help?
"Walking is good, but it cannot compensate for a full workout. Even jogging cannot replace a workout," says Girish Talwalkar, "The good thing about walking is that people enjoy and it is certainly better than doing nothing, but it is not the best exercise.."
But if you like going for walks and are thinking of starting out on a proper morning walk, you can start with a five minute walk daily. Add a minute everyday and gradually brisk walk for 20-25 minutes.
After graduating to brisk walking, you can start jogging. "But, anything less than brisk walking is not a fitness option and people with knee pain should not opt for this form of exercise," advises Girish.

Stamina for Trekking
If you are looking forward to go for that much planned trek, think again. It might be a good idea to train for it before actually going. This also depends on the kind of trek you are going for. "If it is a one or two day trek, which is a normal climb, an average person can go for it without any training," says Girish.
But, if it is a longer one, you can start with brisk walking for 10-15 minutes mixed with two minutes of jogging and even add stair climbing. Climbing up and down eight-ten storeys is a good to start with. Also, start one month in advance and you will be fine by the time of the trek.
"Avoid trekking if you have a knee problem. If you are above 35-40 with a severe back or heart problem, it is best you refrain from going," advises Girish.
