A bad food combination can not only lead to indigestion but can also cause skin breakouts and toxicity.
Here is what you need to know.
Milk and Salt
Simply love binging on those pastas in milk and cheese sauce? You may want to think twice. According to Ayurveda Acharya, Dr. Rohit Bartake, milk mixed with salt is one of the most important combinations that should be avoided. Have you observed how milk sours when mixed with salt?
"This is because they have entirely different characteristics. Milk by nature is cold and salt is hot. Hence, the mixture can lead to toxicity and skin breakouts," he warns.
According to Dr. Bartake, being in a hot and humid climate, your digestive system is weaker than those in colder climates. So what suits their body may not necessarily suit yours.
Milk and Fruits
Fruit milkshakes may seem like a healthy option, but according to Dr. Bartake, they are a bad idea.
He says, "Any fruit is slightly sour and when combined with milk, it leads to an acid formation. This combination can lead to skin breakouts as over a period of time."
Carbohydrates and Acids
If you have a weak tummy, you might want to stay away from carbohydrates like bread, potato and rice as well as acidic foods such as pineapple and grapes.
Aanchal Achipalya, Nutritionist explains, "Carbohydrates have an enzyme known as 'ptyalin' that is used to digest alkaline foods that is destroyed by acidic food."
This combination causes fermentation which in turn leads to gas formation. Have your fruits half an hour prior to your meal instead.
