We ask Neesha Mariabokht, certified trainer and dietician from Talwalkars, to us some give tips on drinking water during exercising:
- You do not have to drink large quantities of water while exercising; having 100 ml of water every 15 to 20 minutes of any kind of exercising should be sufficient.
- It is ideal to have cold water while exercising as it gets absorbed faster by the body.
- Instead of having fruit juices, stick to having plain water while exercising as the salts lost will be compensated by the food you have.
To drink or not to drink is the question
While going overboard with anything is never good, one cannot completely nullify the need of drinking water. Dr. Rohit specifies that while excessive water can be harmful but so can lack of water.
It can lead to stiffness in the body, hearing loss, dizziness, liver, kidney and heart diseases. One should drink water as per the body's requirements and urges.
