But with a little care, you can look and feel great.
Sore Bore!
Redness, itchiness and soreness of the skin are the symptoms that you might experience. Avoid going out in the sun for long hours.
Even if you do, make sure you carry an umbrella or wear a scarf. Heat and humidity tend to aggravate the problem.
Don't forget to apply a sun screen lotion before you leave home. You can also apply cooling lotions such as lacto calamine.
Most of all, keep your skin clean at all times. Make sure you wash and moisturise your skin every now and then.
The Pain of Acne!
If you have had a problem with acne in the past, it is likely to get aggravated during pregnancy. Speak to your doctor about prescription medicines.
Besides medication, wash your face with a mild face wash and moisturise with a water-based moisturiser. Do this at least twice a day. It will keep the pores of your skin clean.
Melasma
Melasma is a dark colouration of the skin on and around the upper cheekbones due to exposure to the sun. It is common with pregnant women due to increased hormonal activity.
If you are suffering from pregnancy-induced melasma, then avoid direct exposure to the sun. While going out, wear a suitable SPF15 sunscreen lotion.
According to Dermatologist, Dr. Gunjan Shah, you could also apply lime juice to the affected areas to lighten the skin. Lotions with sugarcane extracts have excellent sunscreen and lightening properties and will also help.
Cucumber juice is another option. After returning from outdoors, place two cucumber slices on your eyes and rub the rest of your face with cucumber juice.
Rashes Galore!
Rashes all over the body are also common during pregnancy due to hormonal imbalances. Speak to your doctor about creams and medications that you could use.
For the itching and redness, use a cooling lotion like calamine lotion.
