I Crave Meat
If you have an irresistable urge to eat meat all the time when you are pregnant, blame it on a lack of protein in your diet. If you do lack protein, you will feel a maximum of meat craving during the second trimester when the growth is maximum!
How Much?
Protein is good, but you should have only 100 grams of meat every day because of it's high fat content.
Meat Anytime?
Proteins are good, but having your day's helping of meat during any meal isn't a good idea. You need to have your meat either for breakfast or lunch, as meats can take up to eight hours to digest!
Eating meat for dinner can cause indigestion and weight gain.
Little Precautions
- Avoid meat from restaurants, as you never know how hygienic their kitchen and cooks are.
- Avoid cold cuts and meat that is not well done, they may give you a gastro-infection.
- Avoid spicy or creamy meat gravies. Heavy gravies will cause indigestion.
- Make sure you take off all the fat and skin from the meat, before cooking it.
So even though having a baby means making some drastic lifestyle changes, you definitely don't need to turn vegetarian.
