Gain Right
Gynaecologist Dr. Sudha Tandon says, "There are two reasons you gain weight during your pregnancy - to nourish the foetus and to build up reserves for breastfeeding."
Keeping this and your baby's health in mind remember that it is what you eat that matters and not how much of it. The number of kilos you need to gain depends on how much you weigh when you get pregnant.
You will gain most of your weight between your 2nd and 3rd trimester. On an average you may have an overall weight gain of 10-12 kgs.
You can also 'Gym while you are Pregnant' to stay fit.
Stay away from junk food like burgers because these add excess calories and do nothing for your nutrition.
- Excess Weight Pitfalls
In case you gain excess weight then you may suffer from varicose veins, backaches, leg cramps, fatigue and a lot of stretch marks. Besides, the excess weight will be difficult to shed after delivery.
