MADHURI Dixit received Padma Shri for her contribution to Indian cinema and the former Bollywood diva says the honour is a result of her hard work and honesty.

"It's always a wonderful feeling to have your work honoured. One has worked so hard for so many years. The Padma Shri is a culmination of all my hard work and honesty. I think I'm being honoured for doing my work sincerely," Madhuri told IANS.

Madhuri's children are in the US with her in-laws and her parents.

"They're all there. I guess my kids are lucky to have three sets of parents. My husband was here with me to share this moment. He left on Sunday."

All yashraj movies r a big flop so y blame madhuri... tashan was a big flop joom barabar joom flop madhuri gav a bttr openin to yashraj even aftr 6 yrs..... her movies like lajja n mrityudand hav contributed a lot all jealous ppl stop barking

Sick ppl u r commmenting on a legend like madhuri... Not any sadak chap actoors like karrena ... madhuri rocks her movies llike mrityudand & laaja hav made gr8 contributions . n even her aaja nachle was flop ie most of yash raj movies are super flop its not madhuris fault.. Tashhan super duper flop . Even 4 stars could nt giv it 2 % opening n madhuri aftr 6 yrs gav an opening of 30% even the movie was poorly directed this shows her strong fan base... madhuri rocks hope she would hav recd paadmashree much earlier.... so jealous ppl will always bark ....

Madhuri is the best actress bollywood has ever produced. Those who think she did only "dhak dhak" are just ignorant. she is already a winner of national citizen award which is given to celebrities who do social work. she is an active participant of mukti, aids foundation. She runs 2 asylums. She has also contributed in cry. Much before aishwarya glorified her eye donation campaign, madhuri had nominated herself for eye donation. she being a microbiologist, is also interested in donations to medical research. also all those ignorant people should know that president does not decide padma awards. There is a special jury. And why they get jealous if maharahstrians win padma awards. They win becoz they deserve it. madhuri has given great hindi movies, and will always rock.

I wonder why madhuri was given padmashri. Aren't there better people to felicitate in the movie industry. All the dhak dhak, bak bak with her "social work" she got padma shri.

This is not a big thing to act in a movie. What special thing she has done for the movie? There are a lot of people who have done more hard work than madhuri. And it seems that our president is interested to give padmashri to all the little known / known maharashtrians !!!!
