IT'S amazing to watch designer John Galliano's Dior get bolder, sharper, wackier.
Dressed like the mythical pied piper, Galliano presented the brave new world of rainbow colours, fairytale silhouettes and 70s chunky flower-power accessories, in his retro-meets-boho-chic Cruise 2009 collection for Dior.
Showcased at New York's haute venue Gustavino's on May 12, the Dior collection had celebrities thronging to get the first buy.
Galliano's pink obsession continued in the Cruise 2009 collection, but this time, pastel green, blue, orange and aqua-marine made their presence felt.
The Dior trendsetters:
Get a load of these.
Red HOT new style: The Indian-style three-fourths, sequined at the bottom, worn with a tunic.
You can never go wrong with these - flaired satin skirts and dresses, cinched at the waist - the 60s classic look a la Breakfast At Tiffany's.
Frills everywhere - tops, skirts, bags.
Colourful leather tote bags with basket handles.
Detailed prints - geometric, floral, stripes and more.
Hot pants worn with Indian-style choli tops
For those who dare to bear, one-piece swimsuits come back as eveningwear, with sequins and beads to accessorize.
Accesory alerts:
Chunky block bracelets stay in and get hotter, more colourful.
The 70s extra-large earrings make a sparkling comeback.
The big beads around the neck get bigger and go fluoroscent.
Fashionistas, take out that big Sombrero hat you got on your Mexican holiday and spray it with pastel colours. It's a perfect accessory for a sunny day about town - as long as you don't wear it on your head!
Stringcourse stilettoes continue adding up on inches. Floral patters fly there, too.
Eco-friendly canvas and cloth bags are haute favourites on ramp - Galliano makes them super-trendy with prints.
We take you straight through the collection.
