AISHWARYA Rai could be world's luckiest woman - she has the stunning looks that could carry off rags with élan. She has the best designers at her service. And the best part - she has super-glam occasions like Cannes, where she can flaunt them.

And yet!

Something happens to the Bollywood diva when it comes to the French film festival. Aishwarya has been at the receiving end for her (or designer Neeta Lulla's) disastrous fashion sense.

Just as we hoped that the cutting-edge style of hubby Abhishek Bachchan might have inspired Ash to beat her Cannes critics, there she went! Yet again.

This time, it was not the wrong colour or cut, but the failure of her steam iron, that set the style-meter plummeting on day 1, May 15.

Notice those ungainly folds on her gown, that turn Ash'a favourite colour - black - into her nemesis!

Thankfully, the situation improves as Cannes Festival moves forward. 

Aishwarya stuck to the safest black and white for most occasions. Olive green and shocking fuschia pink were the only exceptions.
